Being the only fine dining Sri Lankan restaurant in Brisbane city, owners of this brand-new restaurant (opened in 2016) desperately needed an interior that reflects the feel of Sri Lanka. Therefore the mission was to create the ambience of Sri Lanka inspired by its most traditional temple architecture that is authentically unique to the country. Therefore, the architecture of this project referenced one of Sri Lanka’s most sacred ancient rock temple – The Dumbulu Viharaya, where geometrical shapes of rustic colour patents and ancient religious Gods & Goddesses frescos can be contrasting with golden Buddha statues. The unique entry and bar area walls of the restaurant are decorated with frescos of the temple that carry out the lotus theme throughout the space. The Charming patio extends up to the alfresco area surrounded by built-in seats with tropical colourful foliage, giving this restaurant a relaxing home-style ambience that the client desired.
