The church was built in 1883 and the project provided new porch addition to its main streetscape as the existing main entry porch is located to a sub- street that is hidden from the spectators. In addition, the project also provides a car park, a three-story Sunday school and a community hall. This project is the first stage of multi-stage redevelopment and renovation.
As Catholics account for nearly 95% of the population in this area, the design concept for this project was to envisage how the blessing s of God flows upon the town, from the church, using artificial lights, colours, textures and plants to the landscape. Radiation patterns from the new porch and the landscape features reflect this idea and the sight of onlookers on the main road always lead spirituality towards the statue on the roof.
