Five storey building facade construction

Compleated

This commercial building located on High-Level road Nugegoda, Colombo, is a major facade renovation and addition to an existing dilapidated concrete four-story structure. The new façade maximizes the levels by zoning the building to create mixed-use and the commercial shop in front to attract potential customers to the interior tenancies. The tenancies include offices, a gym, retail shops, supermarkets and classrooms for private tutoring.

The design approach was to exhibit some of the internally integrated retail spaces into the streetscape by maximizing commercial value as well as creating a unique façade to the exterior. The right hand of the building is refaced with toughen glass from the ground to the top level and the left-hand side of the building cladding with Alucobond custom designed profiles. The decorative building skin was designed as a sunshade to avoid harsh sunlight that comes from the west but maximize the exposure to the busy street.
